Tricia Ashelford of the Kiama Farmers' Market is Kiama's 2021 Citizen of the Year. Special mention was made of the extraordinary efforts she went to to ensure the Market continued through the COVID period, to help farmers and producers maintain an income as well as keep up community morale.

The official Australia Day ceremony for our area also recognised Evelaine Berry as our Senior of the Year for ongoing service to the community (including cancer support and her dementia work), and Jordan Casson-Jones as the Young Citizen of the Year, for his actions helping other young members of our community going through hard times.

Makuta, a initiative to raise money to support youth mental health, was named the Community Organisation of the Year.
