Wild Life and Wild Places - Art Exhibition

Wed 16 Oct 2024, 11:00 PM - Thu 24 Oct 2024, 5:00 AM

Gerringong Library and Museum

Local artists, Yvonne Clough and Gay Emmerson love living in Gerringong and their passion for their surroundings is demonstrated in their upcoming exhibition at GlAM Gallery within the Gerringong Library. It is the wilderness, animals, birdlife and the colours of Australia that they are drawn to.

Gay graduated from art school in 1974 and has been painting and exhibiting ever since. Gay says that her paintings are inspired by the features of the Australian landscape where hills are rounded to form bums and bellies, often wrinkled and folded.

Yvonne took up painting midlife and went to classes in Sydney and the South Coast. She loves animals and birds, but magpies are her preferred subject. She is influenced by their inquisitive and quirky nature which she has captured in her artworks. She also paints wooden magpie figures.

Yvonne and Gay would welcome you to pop in, say hi and have a browse and maybe find the painting that is just right for you.

‘Wild Life and Wild Places’ will be on display at GLaM 11 – 24 October, 10-4 pm daily. Official opening – Saturday 12 October 5 – 6.30 pm.
