S.A.F.E. Kiama

My name is Madeleine Scarfe, I’m an architect and my passion is the built environment.

I grew up in Melbourne, completed my studies there, moved to Sydney and now Kiama is my home.

I have a Masters degree in Environmentally Sustainable Design, and I apply these principles to every building I design, every aspect of my life and it informs my experience of the built environment around me.

I love Kiama’s community spirit and natural beauty, and feel that both need to be nurtured and protected.

Growth and change are inevitable, we cannot stay the same but let’s make sure that, as a community, we manage the process and understand the implications of the decisions we make. This can only be achieved with a council that is accountable and transparent, and welcomes scrutiny and the participation of the community.

I see so many opportunities for a shining future for the Kiama LGA but I fear that if we continue on our current path they will all pass us by.

Let’s be proactive and steer the Kiama LGA towards the future we want.

I run my own business as an architect, and I am involved in various community initiatives such as the Kiama Central Precinct, and Kiama Community Radio.
