Matt grew up in Kiama and was a former Kiama High School Captain, Council lifeguard and co-owner of Amigos Mexican Restaurant. Matt was a corporate lawyer before becoming our local Member of Parliament for 12 years. 

He serves our local community as an active volunteer surf lifesaver and assistant in the Nippers program with his 12 yo daughter, on Council and as Chair of Destination Kiama.

Matt understands the important links between private enterprise and government. He has a proven record of success in negotiating, lobbying and securing grants and infrastructure for our local community e.g., Kiama Coastal Walk, Kiama High upgrade, North Kiama Bypass. Matt has extensive experience in public administration.

Matt will ensure Council remains “Fit for the Future” to avoid a forced amalgamation!

Matt is committed to improving the lifestyle of all residents. He will work to make our area the best place to live and retire. 

Matt will work to improve our leisure centre, sporting and recreation facilities, as well as maintaining the character of our towns and villages. Matt will also provide more attention to Mental Health.
