KIAMA REGION YES23: A Chance for Meaningful Reconciliation
A new community group has been established in the Kiama region to support a YES vote in the upcoming referendum on constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
people.
KIAMA REGION YES23 is an inclusive group that welcomes people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and political persuasions. The group aims to provide a forum for respectful and open discussions
about the referendum, and to encourage people to get involved in the campaign.
We believe that this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for meaningful reconciliation. A YES vote will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to have a greater say in matters that affect
their lives, and will help to build a more just and equitable society for all Australians.
Our group is organising a number of events in the coming months to raise awareness of the referendum and to encourage people to vote YES. These events will include public forums,
educational workshops, and door-to-door canvassing.
KIAMA REGION YES23 is also encouraging people to visit the group's website, https://action.yes23.com.au/kiama_region_for_yes for more information about the referendum
and to get involved in the campaign.
Everyone has a role to play in this historic moment, we urge you to join us in supporting a YES vote for constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
