A Love Odyssey comes to Kiama

Partners in life and on the stage, Rheinberger & Wilson are looking forward to bringing their first full-length cabaret show, A Love Odyssey, to Kiama’s pop-up venue, The Kazador.

Combining Nick Rheinberger’s razor-sharp songs about modern life and love, Tia Wilson’s brooding accordion, sweet harmonies and a love of the absurd, the couple are a unique Australian cabaret and comedy act.

“Tamara and Dave [of The Kazador] are go-getters for the region and big supporters of local acts, local cabaret and local comedy. I’ve done a lot of shows with them over the years,” says Nick, who is known to many from his day job as the popular host of ABC Ilawarra’s morning show for the last 16 years

“They are incredible movers and shakers and the venue just lends itself to a really intimate experience, which is what Tia and I are really trying to do.”

He says you’ll hear funky songs about the challenges of sharing a bed and sea shanties about losing your glasses, not to mention his obsession with Kenny Rogers and Tia’s love of Nana Mouskouri.

The Kazador is a perfect cabaret venue

“It’s almost a satirical couples counselling but to music,” says Nick.

“It’s like a group session - anybody that’s been to or thought about couple’s counselling will recognise it.

“For instance, there actually are no love songs out there about how hard it is to share a bed for twenty years and the engineering and negotiations you have to go through.”

Tia was one of the founding members of musical comedy group Cheeky Tzatziki, and recently performed at the Adelaide Fringe with The Church of the Clitori.

Rheinberger & Wilson will be playing at The Kazador this Thursday 19 May from 7.30-8.30pm.
