A spur of the moment decision to spend $41.40 on a Lotto 50-game QuickPick has resulted in a division one prize of $919,703.64 for a Kiama man.

He ended up with one of the six division one winning entries, much to his disbelief.

“I was just walking past the newsagency on Saturday and thought, ‘stuff it’, and I got this ticket," he told Lotto officials.

“When I found out I’d won, the old blood pressure went up a bit and I couldn’t stop swearing!

“Every nanosecond of this day I’ll remember for the rest of my life!”

A sign celebrating the win is already up in the Kiama Fair Newsagency

He said he was still processing the win, but didn't expect to give up work entirely.

“I’m going to spend a little bit on the house to do a few things, but then I want to have a good think about how best to use the rest,” he said.

The ticket was purchased at the Kiama Fair Newsagency on the day of the draw, the second time a division one winner has bought their ticket there.

“We’re so happy to see a winner locally and also hoping for lighting to strike again in the same place and have another division one win soon," owner Mark Gladman told Lotto officials.

“This is our second division one win during the 23 years we’ve been here. The last one was in 2013 when a $15 million Oz Lotto prize was won by a local.

“A huge congrats to our winner. Take your time deciding how to use this win to change your life!”
