Kiama Council has advised it will keep The Boneyard at Bombo Headland closed this weekend as a precautionary measure.
Initial tests have found no traces of wastewater or sewage at popular recreational area, following a wastewater overflow at Cathedral Rocks Ave yesterday caused by a blockage.
The Council notice said: "The overflow is some distance from the beach, and has been contained, but the beach has been closed and water testing conducted as a precaution.
"However, Council will leave the beach closed until Sydney Water conducts follow up tests to confirm it is safe for swimming and fishing."
Sydney Water will conduct the follow-up tests over the weekend as part of its clean-up operations.
