Sometime ago residential dwellings had to fit into a building envelope which was something like 4.5 metres at the boundary then from there rising at a 45 degree angle to a maximum height of 8 metres. This at least preserved some of the amenity of others having their view blocked by large new dwellings.
However any recent walk around our municipality shows many examples of that not now applying. Why? With high land values, amenity is even more important, as is solar access as we will need more solar to charge our growing fleet of E.V.s without burning fossil fuel.
Many would agree this is an urgent matter for the above, and other reasons, and I really think Kiama Council needs to supply an explanation ASAP to the Bugle. And this is even before we start on floor space ratios.
