A condolence book will be open from noon today at the office of the Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward, for people to express their sympathy and thoughts on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

"On behalf of our community, I extend our deepest sympathies to the Royal Family," says Mr Ward.

"We will never forget your dedication and steadfast service."

A condolence book is also open at the office of the Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, in Nowra.

"Few have known a world without Queen Elizabeth II," she says.

"In her seven remarkable decades on the throne, Her Majesty was a rare and reassuring constant amidst rapid change. Through the noise and tumult of the years, she embodied and exhibited a timeless decency and an enduring calm.

"May she rest in eternal peace."

Mayor Neil Reilly says, "Queen Elizabeth's coronation was just a few days before my birth. Her image graced the walls of my schools, my scout halls, my army barracks and our council chamber.

"In one way or another, all my life she was there. Her hard work, her love for Australia and our people was inspirational.

"I was genuinely and deeply saddened to hear of her passing."

The condolence books will be sent to Buckingham Palace, along with many others from around the world.
