There have been no major incidents or flood rescues in Kiama as the heavy rain continued overnight.

Elsewhere, the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) responded to 447 incidents and 49 flood rescues, as the rainfalls brough on flash flooding on the South Coast, in Illawarra and the Sydney Metropolitan regions. 

“Kiama FRNSW has had no major incidents over the last 24 hours. I think most of the issues have been to the south of our area, down around Nowra and Sanctuary Point,” says Kiama Captain, Rhys Dawson.

Adam James, public relations officer at NSW SES, confirmed that there have only been seven incidents over the last couple of days in Kiama.

“Four of those were storm-related (such as a leaking roof),” he says.

That said, he urges people not to drive through flooded areas.

For assistance in floods and storms, please call the NSW SES on 132 500, he adds. In life-threatening situations, such as if you’re trapped in a car in floodwater, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.  

NSW SES also encourages people to download the Hazards Near Me app, to stay up to date with the latest warnings on severe weather and flooding. 

Flood warnings are currently in place for Picton, Shoalhaven, Wollondilly, and the Hawkesbury Nepean.
