This year’s Gerringong Christmas Parade, always one of the town’s busiest days of the year, is on this Saturday with an impressive range of floats, exciting live music and much more.
Jade from Wave FM and Riley from Power FM will be acting as MCs to keep the fun flowing along.
With the help of extra funding from the NSW Government’s Reconnecting Regional Program, Bendigo Bank and local businesses, the road will remain closed after the Parade for a performance by the popular Hot Potato Band.
The Kids on Bikes entry, formed last year to make the event more accessible, will be parading down the street again under a new name, Kids of Gerringong.
“The Kids on Bikes was made to extend the event to anyone who doesn’t fit into any other groups that are in the parade,” says Emily Vaughan, a member of the organising committee.
“It was really successful - we had lots of kids decorate their bikes and ride down the street together. It worked really well for younger children who weren’t part of sporting groups yet.
“This year, we are extending it to include all kids, including those who may not have bikes, or prefer to ride a scooter instead.”
The crowd can continue their festive fun at the Gerringong Rotary Christmas Markets or go to the Carols at Gerringong Bowling Club later in the afternoon.
Fern Street will be closed between Belinda and Rowlands between 9am and 12pm, with the Parade starting at 10am. The Christmas Carols at the Bowlo are on from 4pm.
