First Ever Young Aboriginal Leaders Program Launched

The NSW Parliament has announced its first ever Young Aboriginal Leaders Program, a new initiative aimed at empowering and inspiring young Indigenous leaders.

Set to take place in June from 17-20, 2025, at Parliament House in Sydney, the program is part of the Bicentenary of the Legislative Council celebrations. Open to young leaders aged 18-25 years old, it will provide a culturally grounded experience focused on leadership, networking, and community impact.

Participants will develop leadership and communication skills, gain insights into parliamentary processes, engage with Aboriginal leaders, and deliver a speech in the Legislative Council Chamber.

Local MP Gareth Ward welcomed the initiative, emphasising that all travel, accommodation, and meals will be covered, ensuring accessibility for young leaders across NSW, including those from the Kiama electorate.

Applications are now open, forms are available here.
