The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) has just reported the death of a man in his 70s from the Kiama Local Government area.

He had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions. He died at Wollongong Hospital.

It is the first death of a local during the pandemic, and our condolences go to the family.

A resident of Wollongong also died.

Local cases have also jumped in the latest recording period to 8pm last night, with five new cases in the Kiama LGA out of 62 for the ISLHD (34 cases are residents of Wollongong LGA, 20 cases are residents of Shellharbour LGA, and 3 cases are residents of Shoalhaven LGA). All of the Kiama cases are still being investigated.
