The Kiama SES has reported that last night, at about 12:30am, a southbound train came to a stop north of Bombo after a land slip prevented it from moving.
A neighbour says that it happened at the southern end of the cutting, while the train was passing.
Thirteen passengers were safely evacuated from the train and walked 800 metres north to Cathedral Rocks to wait for taxis. No persons were injured.
Kiama received 75mm of rain in 40 minutes late last night, resulting in flash flooding, including at Spring Creek and Hillview Circuit.

The SES volunteers have been called to numerous jobs because of the heavy rain, including cars in flood water, flooded properties and trees and branches down.
Remember to never drive, walk or ride into floodwaters.
