Just a reminder that entries for all Pavilion exhibits at the Kiama Show are due by 5pm on Tuesday 24 January.
“Pavilion entries, in 600 classes, are free and are a great opportunity for people to show others what they have created, grown or made this year,” says the Show Society Secretary, Jen Hampshire, who has enjoyed success with her baking in the past.
“I’m by no means a professional, but really enjoy putting in entries to see how they go and to keep the tradition alive.
“I’d really reinforce that this is a competition that everyone should consider entering – look through the categories in the schedule on the website and I’m sure you’ll find something to suit your interests.”
These include everything from plants, photography and woodwork to needlepoint, roses and beer. You can even enter your pet in the Pet Show.
This year there are special categories to mark the Kiama Show Society’s 175th anniversary, including a cake decorated for the occasion, damper and heirloom sewing.
Exhibits must be delivered at various stipulated times for their categories on Thursday 26 January, with flowers arriving fresh for judging on the Friday when the Show begins.
The always popular Pet Show is the only competition that allows you to enter on the day – with classes like the Pet Most Like Its Owner and the Cutest Puppy or Dog, the pressure is always on the judges when they make the final call.
The Show’s official opening will be on the Main Stage at 4pm on the Friday, followed by the judging of the Young Woman competition. See the full program on the website.
For the first year, the form (printed in the latest Bugle or available online at www.kiamashow.com.au) can be submitted by email to [email protected] as well as in person at The Pavilion on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 January from 9-5pm.
