GoGoGrandparent, a seniors transport service in North America, is now making waves Down Under. Teaming up with Uber Health, it has rolled out an on-demand mobility service in Australia, allowing older Australians and those with disabilities to book Uber rides without a smartphone. A simple call to GoGoGrandparent on 13 46 28 does the trick.
Among those already benefiting is Tony Sullivan, a spry 79-year-old in Brisbane. No longer driving, he found GoGoGrandparent ideal for his recent doctor's visit. "It was excellent service. I just have to press a few digits on my phone, and a car picks me up as soon as possible," he shared.
How It Works:
Justin Boogaard, GoGoGrandparent's CEO, expressed excitement, stating, "Our mission is to ensure that people can enjoy the freedom of mobility as they age, and our work with Uber Health will now help us support Australians' independence."
He was inspired to create GoGo by his Grandma Betty. She noticed that Justin could access rides and meals easily from his phone. Grandma Betty wasn’t confident she could rely on technology, and so GoGo enabled her to access these services by phone.
Since 2016, GoGoGrandparent has served hundreds of thousands in North America, completing 1.5 million Uber Health rides since 2019. For more on their Australian services, visit www.gogograndparent.com
They can be accessed in Kiama by dialing the phone number above. Yay – an answer for some of Kiama’s transport woes for a sector of the population.
Kiama’s only dedicated taxi service, Kiama Cabs, announced it was ending its services after more than 30 years in business after failing to find someone to buy the business. Since then, a handful of replacement services have become available in the LGA, including The Illawarra Taxi Network, Uber and Driving Miss Daisy.
