Sydney newspapers have reported that the Liberal Party candidate for Kiama will be Melanie Gibbons, who was the MP for Holsworthy in the last Parliament.
Ms Gibbons failed to win preselection for that seat last November, despite being its member since 2011.
The news comes after the Premier Dominic Perrottet saying yesterday, “We’ll have a candidate in Kiama, and we’re going to win it.
“We won’t be entering into deals with Gareth Ward if he’s elected the member for Kiama.
“I don’t think it’s appropriate given both sides of politics moved to unanimous motion to suspend him from parliament just a few months ago.”
Mr Ward is running as an Independent in the election [Ward on his reasons for running].
The NSW Electoral Commission closes nominations for the 25 March election tomorrow (Weds) at noon.
The draw for the order on the ballot sheet is happening on Thursday morning.
