Jamberoo Playground Fire

On Tuesday night, an arsonist targeted the children’s playground in Reid Park, Jamberoo, leaving it severely damaged. John Friedmann, Vice Chair of the Jamberoo Valley Ratepayers & Residents Association Inc. (JVRRA), voiced the community’s collective shock and disappointment over the reckless destruction of playground equipment that many families rely on.

“We hope Council will prioritise the repair of this damage, so this important part of our village can once again be a safe and welcoming space for children and families to gather,” John said. “Acting quickly on vandalism is vital, not only to restore community morale but to send a clear message that such actions won’t be tolerated.”

The playground, situated in an area covered by CCTV, gives the community confidence that those responsible will be identified and brought to justice. While JVRRA acknowledges the funding constraints Council faces, they emphasise the importance of swift repairs to prevent vandalism from becoming an unwelcome norm.
