Kiama Rotary made a generous contribution on Wednesday to support "Jay’s Mission" Melanoma Walk, a journey undertaken from Canberra to Sydney raising funds for the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation. The initiative aims to drive advocacy, education, fund research, and provide support for individuals affected by melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.
The walkers arrived at Kiama Lighthouse at 10 AM, where they were warmly welcomed by Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald, members of Rotary Kiama, and representatives of the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation. After enjoying morning tea and a well-earned rest, the group prepared to continue their trek.
In a gesture of community spirit, Rotary Kiama President Phil Whyte presented a $3,500 cheque to the walkers. The donation will aid the Foundation’s vital work in combating this life-threatening disease.
This inspiring event highlighted the power of collaboration and the importance of supporting initiatives that raise awareness and funds for skin cancer prevention and treatment.
