“We knit, we sew, we give”
Wrap with Love is a large organisation of volunteers from around Australia that are interested in knitting, crocheting, or stitching. The organisation endeavours to give blankets to those in need of warmth both nationally and globally.
The organisation has been operating since 1992 and works through accredited local partners that help to distribute the blankets to people who are in need. Wrap with Love sends out around 30,000 blankets per year, depending on the levels of need due to various natural or human disasters.
Last year, Kiama members finished more than 620 blankets for donation to those affected by disaster across NSW and internationally, with some of the blankets delivered locally to help people in care homes or refuges.
The year has begun with a bang, with fourteen blankets finished and ready to donate from over the holiday season.
More blankets were provided down the South Coast of NSW, to the Northern Rivers and even out to Central West NSW to communities and households affected by fire and flooding.
With support from several Kiama organisations such as Kiama Municipal Libraries and The Kiama Show, Wrap with Love is empowered to create and give generously. There are Knit & Chat groups held at Kiama and Gerringong Libraries that also support and contribute to the organisation’s efforts.
Keep an eye out for the Wrap With Love display at the upcoming Kiama Show in the Pavillion on 26-27 January.
