Kiama passes the 70 per cent rate

The latest vaccination figures by LGA, released weekly, show the Kiama LGA has powered across the 70 per cent double vaccination target.

The figures for up until midnight on 3 October show 72 per cent of our adult population has had their second dose, and 93.2 per cent have had their first dose. The week before, 66.5 per cent had had their second dose.

Mayor Mark Honey is delighted by the news.

“It is fantastic that the community has made this effort to look after themselves and others,” he says.

“Being vaccinated doesn’t mean you aren’t going to get COVID-19, but it means the severity of the disease will be much less.

“We are going to have a very busy time once restrictions are lifted, and it is good to know the population will be protected in some degree from the serious repercussions of catching the virus.”

The latest figures show double vaccination rates of 63.3 per cent for Wollongong, 63.7 per cent for Shellharbour and 66 per cent for Shoalhaven.

In the latest news for the State, NSW has hit 67.45 per cent fully vaccinated, and 88.5 per cent with at least the first dose.
