Like other locals, Alan Williams is concerned about the time it is taking Sydney Water to repair a water main on Pacific Avenue, Gerringong.
“I reported the first leak outside the Surf Club a week and a half ago, and the next day a second one emerged outside the Bowls Club,” says Alan, who describes himself as a frustrated local resident.
“On calling back they’ve told me it is marked urgent, but the water is still flowing.”
Enquiries from The Bugle revealed work was planned for last weekend. Alan reported back that the second leak was fixed, but the first one outside the Surf Club continues.
“My biggest concern is people’s safety,” says Alan.
“The water on the path is leaving people no alternative but to walk out onto the busy road.
“It is bloody dangerous.”
In response to our query today about why the leak hasn’t been fixed, a Sydney Water spokesperson said, “Sydney Water believe the leak is on a private line. However, we are conducting further investigations to determine the location and cause and arrange for repair.”
It can’t come too early for Alan.
