National Volunteer Week (20 to 26 May 2024) is just around the corner, and Kiama Council urges any local volunteer organisations wishing to take part in this year’s Volunteer Expo to ensure their registration is submitted by 5:00pm on Friday 10 May 2024. 

The Volunteer Expo will take place at the Kiama Farmer’s Market on Wednesday 22 May from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. No doubt this event will showcase the region’s strong community spirit and compassion similar to the 2023 event. 

“Last year, we had nearly 30 volunteer-based organisations take part in our first-ever expo, which was an amazing turnout for such a small community,” reflected Deputy Mayor, Imogen Draisma. 

“The vibe on the day was unbelievable, both from the community groups, not-for-profits, service groups and charitable organisations, as well as the locals turning up to see the many and varied ways they could lend a hand for a worthy cause. The Volunteer Expo is an outstanding example of how a small council such as ours can play a large role by helping our local community groups and charities recruit more people to support the important work they do.”

Local organisations who are keen to spread the word about their heartfelt mission, and perhaps recruit some new volunteers or recipients, are encouraged to head to the Kiama Council website to register by 5:00pm on Friday 10 May 2024!
