The first-ever Group 5 Judith Green Award was proudly presented to Macs Rubain at the Kiama Show on Friday. This prestigious award, named in honour of Judith Green OBE OAM, recognises young people excelling in the agricultural field and supports their career and education in the industry.
Macs Rubain, who grew up on a property and has experience in the beef industry, discovered a passion for dairy farming after helping a local stud at the Sydney Royal Easter Show a few years ago.
“I quickly found a passion for the dairy industry and began competing in junior judging at local qualifiers. I was lucky enough to win the state final and compete at the national finals in Launceston. Although I was unsuccessful in winning, I was asked to judge some local shows in my region. This year, I won the state final again and look forward to competing at the national finals in Melbourne,” Rubain shared.
Rubain’s journey reflects the values championed by Judith Green, a tireless advocate for agricultural shows and youth involvement. Her legacy, supported by contributions from local show societies and individuals, continues to inspire young agricultural leaders like Rubain to pursue excellence in their fields.
The award presentation was a highlight of the Kiama Show, marking a significant milestone for Rubain and the South Coast agricultural community.
