A 23 year old Kiama man has been charged following an alleged indecent act in public in a car park at Werri Beach last month.

At about 3pm on Tuesday 30 August, a 48 year old woman was allegedly approached by a male not known to her, who began talking to her before allegedly performing an indecent act towards the woman.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police arrested the man at Lake Illawarra Police Station yesterday. He was charged with carry out sexual act with another without consent.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 5 October.

Police are urging anyone with information on the matter to come forward to help with their inquiries.
