While we enjoy a welcome return to blue skies, the ground will remain waterlogged for some time.
This means that despite the sunshine today’s Kiama Farmers’ Market will be held inside The Pavilion. It is the first time that the Market has been able to retreat there since the introduction of COVID-19 restrictions.
“We don’t want our stallholder vehicles to damage the park,” says the Market Manager Tricia Ashelford.
“It is great that we can finally get back into The Pavilion as our backstop location.
“Some of our stallholders weren’t able to get to their usual markets on the weekend, so they need support from locals.”
Up to 300 people can be in the building at one time, after checking in, sanitising and keeping safe distance.
Sports grounds around the Municipality have been closed, and Council says they will remain that way until further notice.
Council is also warning people to avoid swimming for at least one day after heavy rain at ocean beaches, and for up to three days at harbour or estuarine swimming areas.
Sewerage overflow was reported at Black Beach and Kendalls Beach yesterday.
