New Kiama café needs a name

There is a new cafe opening opposite Kiama Village on Monday and you, Bugle readers, can help name it.

The signs saying ‘Little Earth’ are already up, however a cafe name has not yet been decided. The Bugle spoke to one of the owners, Lae while he was setting up to open on Monday.

At this stage they simply are going to put up a ‘Coffee’ sign when opening.

Possible names are West End Coffee, Little Earth and even Big Earth (this reporter’s suggestion).

The new name will not be decided for about two weeks so head to The Bugle's Facebook page and comment on your suggestion, or the names you like from those already suggested.

The site is opposite Kiama Village on Terralong St, near the roundabout of Thomson St (up to Kiama Primary School) and Terralong St, the old entrance to Woolworths.

The new cafe replaces Bean Roasted Kiama at Terralong Street which quietly closed its doors after 10 years of trading.

Bean Roasted was a long-term staple of the Kiama cafe scene, first operated by Christian Lovatt for seven years until it was bought by the most recent owner Rachael.

The premises have now been bought by Lae (an ex-pilot from Peru) and Tiais of Little Earth Roasters who have built up a very loyal following from their store in Tingira Cres at the Little Blowhole shops. They are noted for their quirky loyalty card system, repurposing an old factory sign-in card system.

Little Roaster’s coffee blend “Chasky” claimed the silver medal in the 2022 Australian International Coffee awards.
