The re-elected Member for Keira, Ryan Park, has been appointed the Minister for the Illawarra and South Coast.

He was amongst six additional senior Ministers to be sworn in swiftly with the Premier Chris Minns and the Deputy Premier Prue Car following the election result to provide immediate leadership and direction.

Mr Parks was also appointed Minister for Health and Regional Health, and Minister for Mental Health, and has interim portfolio responsibilities for Police, Counter Terrorism, Corrections, Juvenile Justice, Local Government and Medical Research while the full ministry is decided upon.

Mayor Neil Reilly welcomes the expanded area being elevated back into the Ministry.

“I’ve known Ryan for many years, and I think he will do an excellent job. It is good to see that after such a long time with a Parliamentary Secretary that our area is receiving the ministerial recognition it deserves.

“I look forward to working him.”

It now looks likely that Gareth Ward will retain the Seat of Kiama as an independent.
