NSW Government commits funding for Illawarra & South Coast hospitals

The Minns Labor Government has committed ongoing financial support to revitalise Shellharbour Hospital in the state budget, with $722 million investment and Shoalhaven Hospital with a $438 million investment.

Additionally, substantial enhancements to Wollongong Hospital and the much-awaited upgrades to Milton Ulladulla Hospital have been slated by the NSW Government to move towards improving healthcare services in the Illawarra and South Coast regions.

The commitment comes at a time when the state faces fiscal challenges that it claims were left behind by the previous Liberal-National government, including record debt and unfulfilled promises, notably the non-permanent funding of 1112 nurses and midwives working in NSW Hospitals.

The Minister for the Illawarra and the South Coast, Ryan Park, announced a dedicated allocation of $22 million to bolster Wollongong Hospital and an additional $7.5 million to upgrade the Milton Ulladulla Hospital.

“I’ve always said that it shouldn’t matter where you live, everyone should have access to quality healthcare,” Minister Park said.
