SevenMarks Gallery came alive on February 8 as art lovers gathered for the opening night of Framing Space, the latest exhibition by renowned Australian sculptor Philip Spelman.
Spelman’s bold and vibrant sculptures filled the gallery, transforming the space with geometric forms and striking compositions of positive and negative space. Guests explored his unique approach to abstraction, where familiar objects—tables, vases, and chairs—are reimagined into dynamic three-dimensional works.
“There’s internal space—negative spaces captured within the work—and then there are the positive elements within those spaces,” Spelman shared, reflecting on his creative process.
Attendees engaged in lively discussions about the interpretations of his pieces, a testament to the thought-provoking nature of his work.
SevenMarks Gallery praised Spelman’s ability to reshape the gallery landscape, stating: “Phil’s vibrant sculptures engage with both natural and defined spaces, balancing, tumbling, and floating to create dynamic compositions.”
Framing Space runs until March 15—don’t miss the chance to experience it firsthand.
