Federal Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips has pledged more than half a million dollars to upgrade Kiama Surf Life Saving Club.
Phillips made the announcement on Saturday at the club, promising $512,000 to upgrade the facility if Anthony Albanese's Labor Government is re-elected at the May 3 federal election.
The incumbent MP said the upgrade would make the club a fit-for-purpose space for training and social activities for young members.
Phillips has previously delive $5.5 million in funding for the new Gerringong Surf Club and she said this election commitment would be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
“I am so proud to be supporting this project because I know how important Kiama SLSC is to the local community here in Kiama," Phillips said.
“I have supported Kiama SLSC in multiple funding grants, including supporting them in their successful grant application to fix their roof.
"I’m also proud to have supported the local Surf Life Saving Community by delivering $5.5 million for the fantastic new Gerringong Surf Club, which I opened in March this year.
“I will always stand with our Surf Life Saving Clubs and our coastal community.”
She was joined by Kiama councillors Imogene Draisma and Stuart Larkins, and members of the surf life saving club at Saturday's announcement at Surf Beach.
