The computer problems have delayed opening of prepoll voting today have now been overcome, and early voters are lining up to have their say.
This election, the prepolling is happening at the Uniting Church in Manning St rather than the Joyce Wheatley Centre.
Supporters of the candidates are enthusiastically hoping to drum up votes, including members of the Liberal Party helping the sitting Member, Gareth Ward, who is running as an independent. This is despite their applications for exemptions to do so still not being adjudicated on by Liberal Party head office. The Bugle has queried when this will be done, and was told that no comment could be made on an internal party matter.
Without the exemptions, Liberals are not supposed to help another candidate in any way.
The Kiama booth is without the usual coreflutes featuring pictures of the Liberal candidate, Melanie Gibbons, with pictures of the Premier in her place.
Prepolling is available to people who have reasons for not being able to vote in person on Election Day, 25 March, such as travelling, working or health reasons. See full details here.
The prepoll booth will be open until 6pm today, and then from Monday to Friday:
Mon - Wed: 8:30am - 5:30pm
Thu: 8:30am - 8:00pm
Fri: 8:30am - 6:00pm
