Rain affects eventsSoggy ground has forced a change of venue this week

While the sun is out today, the prospect of more rain has already brought changes to scheduled events.

With Coronation Park waterlogged, today's Kiama Farmers' Market will be held in the grounds of the much better drained Burnetts on Barney.

"There is no mud there, only blue metal under foot," says the Market's Manager, Tricia Ashelford.

"We just couldn't risk churning up the park more, and are grateful to Burnetts for offering this solution when The Pavilion was booked for a conference and we couldn't use the Surf Beach carpark.

"Our farmers still have their produce to sell, and we are committed to giving them an outlet each week."

The Market has also brought forward the start of its Winter operating hours by a week, trading from 2-5pm today.

While the massive Wollongong's Yours & Owls Festival has been cancelled for this weekend, no decision has been made yet about the Kiama Red Hot Summer concert scheduled for Sunday 3 April at the Kiama Showgrounds. UPDATE: Red Hot Summer has now been rescheduled to Sunday 16 October.

In contrast, the expected weather has already resulted in the Blowhole Big Fish Classic being moved from this weekend to 23-24 April, the same weekend as the KISS Arts Festival.

"Weather forecasts show a seven metre swell and winds to 30 knots on weekend of the 2-3 April, so it will obviously be unfishable and dangerous," says organiser Mark Way of the Kiama Game Fishing Club.

"Hopefully, our new dates will see much improved conditions for competitors."

The Sam Matters Cup, to be held at Gerringong Golf Club, has also been postponed until Friday 20 May.

Expected high tides have also caused the postponement of this weekend's Little Beach Clean Up at Gerroa until Saturday 9 April, from 10am.
