Continuing heavy rain has already caused Spring Creek to flood across Jamberoo Road and the bridge and made the Kiama Farmers’ Market move its stalls to the Surf Beach carpark.
Electronic signs have been put up on Jamberoo Road warning drivers of water flowing across the road. The road is expected to close, but at time of reporting, it has not yet happened.

Jamberoo Community Preschool is also experiencing minor flooding with worries that it will only get worse as the day goes on. Children are being kept inside and parents have been advised that they can pick up their children if need be.
“There is so much water outside of the preschool and it is very frustrating that it’s happening here again,” says Belinda Hibbert, Director of Jamberoo Community Preschool
“The Preschool has already been flooded about four times and we want something to be done.
“Every February and August we are anxious about what’s going to happen when it’s heavy rain.”

The rain comes as Kiama Council took the Gerringong and Jamberoo Flooding Investigation Draft Report to the February meeting last week, which suggests a number of mitigation strategies. It will be on public exhibition shortly and is currently available in the business papers of the February meeting.
