Reilly launches new team for council electionTeam Reilly: Steve Vann, Candy Andersen, Neil Reilly, Pamela Baxter and Julia Roso

Councillor Neil Reilly has announced the ticket for Team Reilly, a new group formed to challenge the status quo of council, with the slogan of Launching a Better Council.

Having served on Council since 2008, Cllr Reilly claims that all members of the team have the right attitude and aptitude to serve as a representative on council.

“We have just the right blend of experience, creativity and skill for the role,” he says.

“Our combined local and council knowledge will help us bring about improvement in Kiama Council.

“There is a compelling need in our community for engagement and the right balance of listening and leadership; that’s us!”

The second place candidate on Team Reilly’s ticket is Steve Vann, who worked with Kiama Council for over two decades before becoming a leading negotiator and advocate with the United Services Union.

“He is well regarded by councils across NSW,” says Cllr Reilly.

The other members of his ticket are Julia Roso, an independent environmental engineer and planner with a young family, who is a former strategic infrastructure planning manager with one of Australia’s largest councils; Candy Andersen, a former teacher and business owner, well known in Kiama tourism circles; and Pamela Baxter, who has a broad education background, including working with the UN and the Australian Electoral Commission.

“The team will work together to make Kiama Council an organisation that can efficiently and effectively deliver the community’s vision,” says Cllr Reilly.

He welcomes the likely improvement in the gender balance on the new council, and points out the order on the ticket has been chosen democratically by the team, by considering experience and likelihood of being elected rather than just gender.

“After the election, the team will remain in place to support whoever gets in, so we can continue to benefit from their insights.”
