With 50.3 per cent of the eligible Kiama LGA population now fully vaccinated, no doubt many of them will be keen to take advantage of tomorrow’s easing of restrictions which will allow them to gather outdoor in groups of five. [Note, original article edited to take out reference to groups of five meeting together for sport, due to uncertainty. However, as of Monday morning, the rules now clarify that five fully vaccinated people can now gather together for sport.]
This is the first of the carrots offered by the State Government, to give fully vaccinated people more freedoms.
People outside the LGAs of Concern, with both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, will be able to meet in groups of up to five people for outdoor recreation, which includes picnics. Children aged 12 and under will not be counted in this total.
Unfortunately, the weather isn’t looking like it is going to cooperate, with the temperature expected to drop to 14C and rain predicted.
The 5km rule will still apply for all vaccinated adults in the Kiama LGA, meaning they can engage in outdoor recreation in their own LGA or within 5km of their home if they live near the edge of the LGA.
Yesterday, one COVID case was reported as being a resident of Kiama, with investigations ongoing. A local case reported earlier in the week has since been excluded.
