Police Media have reported that a search is underway for a 34 year old man feared swept off rocks near East Beach while fishing at Kiama.

His family reported him missing after he failed to return to his Fairfield home overnight.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District located the man’s car this morning, parked at Marsden Headland.

Police have confirmed the man was seen walking towards the rock ledge about midday yesterday (Tuesday 15 March), and personal possessions have been found on the rocks.

A widespread search has been underway today involving local police, Marine Area Command, PolAir, Marine Rescue NSW and Surf Life Saving NSW.

It’s unknown if the man was wearing a life jacket.
