For those who have noticed the cordoned off area of Spring Creek, off Jamberoo Rd, we have received the following information from a Sydney Water spokesman:

"Sydney Water responded to a wastewater overflow at Old Saddleback Road at Kiama today.

"Our technicians immediately contained and rectified the blockage and are working to clean the impacted area.

"Initial reports suggest the overflow was caused by build-up of debris which blocked a wastewater pipe. Signs are in place to warn the community about the overflow.

"Sydney Water apologises for any inconvenience to its customers while the clean-up is completed."

The signs were reported to us on Saturday, by a reader concerned about the wetland and its inhabitants.
