In June, The Bugle shed light on the plight of Mark, Yvonne, and Yvonne’s mum Ethel, who found themselves in a predicament when their house in Bombo was left unfinished by a builder who went bankrupt, leaving them with a partially built house and no further funds to complete the build. Read that story here.
Fast forward to the present, and the transformation of the house is taking place. A wave of community support has helped the family get closer to turning their partially built house into a home, with the help of of skilled individuals who have generously contributed their time and expertise.
'Country to Coast Maintenance' sent Zack, a talented carpenter, who has left his mark with exceptional work. Carolyn Lee, from 'The Energy Experts’, who coordinated the efforts, provided the family with additional solar panels and also took care of the cost of rendering the back garage. An anonymous community-minded lady and her apprentice carpenter son stepped up to handle the skirting boards and architraves, adding their unique touch to this project.
Expressing her gratitude to everyone, Yvonne says, “It's a testament to the true spirit of friendship and community. Having this work done has changed our lives.”
The block, steeped in history, has been in the family's possession since 1954 when it was surrounded by sprawling paddocks. Ethel's husband originally acquired this land for a mere £105.
As the journey towards completing this house continues, Mark and Yvonne would still appreciate the help of a roofing specialist. Any accredited roofing specialists in the community would be encouraged to get in contact with the family via The Bugle.
