Things to do on Australia Day

There’s a range of events and activities planned around the Municipality for this year’s Australia Day, including a helicopter flyover with the Australian and Aboriginal flags coming along the coastline at 10am and 3pm.

Kiama Downs SLSC is having a breakfast BBQ, sand modelling, treasure hunt, brickies relay and thong throwing from 7-11am.

There will also be a BBQ with live music at Gerringong SLSC from 7-11am; and Jamberoo’s BBQ with live music at Kevin Walsh Oval will also feature a classic car display from 8-10am.

Roving entertainers will be appearing at popular spots throughout the day:

  • Gerringong SLSC, 10.30am
  • Kevin Walsh Oval, 10.30am
  • Kiama Downs SLSC, 11.15am
  • Terralong Street, Kiama, 11.15am
  • James Oates Reserve, Minnamurra, 11.15am
  • Coronation Park, Kiama, 12.45pm
  • Kiama Harbour and Blowhole Point, Kiama, 12.45pm

As the 26th is a Wednesday, Kiama Farmers’ Market will also be on, giving you an opportunity to celebrate local Australian food producers and makers.

The only COVID casualty is Kiama Council’s usual Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony - the first has been cancelled and the latter will be conducted online.
