With Stage 1 of the renovation of Kiama Village shopping centre almost complete, Woolworths is preparing people for the centre being closed for three weeks from late July while the roof is replaced.
Until this, it has said that trading would continue throughout the entire period of the building work.
The retailer, which also owns and is the developer of the site, says in a press release it is “currently looking at options for local customers to continue having access to essential products during this time and will have more to share about this over the coming weeks”.
Stage 1 works - which involve a new access road from the roundabout and the upgrade of the rear carpark – are on track to be finished at the end of May.
The new carpark from Meares Place - still a lot to do
The rear carpark with 60 spaces will be reopened then, with access via the new road for vehicles and pedestrians.
This will allow work to focus on Stage 2, expected to start early June, which will see the start of construction on a new decked car park, a new direct to boot facility and the refurbishment of shopping area (Woolworths starts redevelopment preparations).
"We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we continue to progress the renewal of the Kiama Village shopping centre, which remains on track to be delivered by the end of the year,” says Tony Pratt, Woolworths NSW Regional Development Manager.
