The Kiama Blowhole, already renowned as the world’s largest, continues to captivate visitors with its awe-inspiring display of nature’s force. When conditions are right, particularly with a south-easterly swell, water is driven through a narrow 2.5-metre opening in the rock, launching a dramatic spray of water up to 30 metres high. Located just a two-hour drive south of Sydney, the Blowhole remains a timeless attraction, offering visitors a humbling reminder of nature’s might.

Equally striking is the Bombo Headland, a landscape that feels otherworldly. Its towering basalt columns, a by-product of the region’s mining and quarrying history in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, stand as a testament to both human industry and the relentless forces of the ocean. Centuries of wind and waves have sculpted this rugged terrain into a photographer’s paradise, particularly at sunrise when the light transforms the headland into a scene of ethereal beauty.
It’s no wonder we attract 55,000 visitors each year to experience these remarkable sights. As the most visited area in NSW, Kiama’s natural wonders continue to draw people from across the state, the country, and the world.
Both landmarks are treasured not only by locals but by visitors seeking iconic landscapes and unforgettable experiences. With these designations, Kiama stands proudly as a showcase of nature’s beauty and power, further solidifying its place on the must-visit map.
