The Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward, has released the following statement, following the resignation of the Premier Gladys Berejiklian today:

"Whilst I appreciate the significance of any inquiry from the ICAC, no one can take away from the outstanding job that Gladys Berejiklian has done to steer our State through the toughest time in our history.

"Never before has any leader had to contend with this level of pressure and demand - bushfires, floods, drought, COVID and an insatiable media that go far beyond simply seeking the truth.

"Today our State has lost a great servant. Whatever may happen in the future, know that we appreciate your stewardship in the office of Premier.

"Your actions today demonstrate that you know the office of Premier is bigger than any one person and that you are truly committed to the people of our great State."
