Wild wearther has lashed South Coast shorelines with Kiama Council warning residents to steer clear of strong and dangerous surf conditions with waves and water washing into adjacent parks and across footpaths.
Surf Beach has been closed after Coronation Park experienced significant water washing over the beach into the park, creating huge puddles and putting several footpaths under water.
Residents are reminded to keep a safe distance from the shoreline and do not drive, walk or cycle through floodwaters.
Council is also advising carers to prevent children from playing in parks near water as conditions are potentially hazardous, with the tide coming in and large waves continuing to wash over the beaches and into shoreline areas.
Hazardous conditions are also occurring at Jones, Bombo, Kendalls, Easts, Werri, Surf and Seven Mile beaches, the Minnamurra River, Crooked River and other watercourses.
