Here’s what happened across the Kiama LGA from 11-12 November.
Burnt out car at Minnamurra Bridge
A ute exploded and was completely destroyed at Minnamurra Bridge. Residents on social media reported hearing an explosion late at night.
NSW Police said they had not attended and had no report - even though the vehicle has police tape on it. Fire and Rescue have contacted The Bugle stating the report came in at 4 am on 10 November with the fire extinguished within half an hour.
The public are being asked to come forward with any details they may have.
Polish Medals found at Kiama Railway Station gifted to the Polish Illawarra Museum
Sergeant Ben Walsh of Lake Illawarra Police stated on their Facebook page that the best way forward is to donate the four badges to the Illawarra Polish Museum.
Unlike more recent service medals, these are not engraved.
The police have narrowed down from 17,000 possible owners to only 26 without being able to find the owner.
The medals were handed in at Kiama Railway Station on Friday 3 June 2022 after being found on an Intercity train.
The four medals are: a 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Australian Service Medal 1939-1945 and a Polish Air Force Medal.

Early Christmas at Kiama Anglican Church
The Not Too Early for Christmas Carnival was held Sunday 12 November at the Kiama Anglican Church and was a tremendous success
The carnival was held from 1- 4 pm.
An estimated 100 kids under 10 attended with very much a family atmosphere with a wide range of kids activities from jumping castles, and a petting zoo, to kids archery.
There were also indoor activities such as craft, face painting and a games zone.
The event was organised by the Families@4 committee.
Kiama Quilters Gerringong Hall
The Kiama Quilters held a major event over three days at the Gerringong Town Hall, from Friday 10 November to Sunday 12 November.
More than 75 quilts were on display.
The Quilt Viewer Choice on Friday as voted by the public attending was Annete Tubridy for her wall hanging which won a large bundle of mixed quilting materials.
President of Kiama Quilters Lucy Hill wanted to thank in particular the Gerringong Lions for their help in setting up and packing up the Gerringong Town hall.
Over 550 people attended over the weekend.
Kiama Seniors Tennis Tournament, Noorinan Courts and Blowhole Courts
The Kiama Tennis Club hosted its seniors tournament on the weekend of 11 and 12 November, 2023.
The event was held at two locations, at the Noorinan St courts and on Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Blowhole courts.
Club President David Lehman (last on the right), and members of the organising committee: Jess Pinney, Amanda Koorey and Stephen Thurston.
