Council invites community nominations for Financial Advisory Committee

As foreshadowed in Council to take a new approach to managing its finances, Council has today begun seeking expressions of interest from community members to join its newly consititued Finance Advisory Committee.


Four people from the local community will be appointed to the committee, to work alongside the Mayor, the CEO, the CFO and Director Engineering & Works.


The purpose of the Finance Advisory Committee is to:

  • review Council’s Long Term Financial Plan and strategies that deliver financial objectives to Council
  • develop and review action plans aimed at delivering financial performance
  • review service levels ensuring sustainable resourcing
  • review and monitor Council’s financial performance
  • review and investigate opportunities proposed by Council officers or other committee members
  • provide report to Council on the progress of the financial sustainability plan and strategies delivered.


People from the following backgrounds are being invited to apply:

  • current or former finance roles, including accountants, financial advisors and other similar roles
  • experience in local government
  • current or former corporate experience, including lawyers, human resource experts, industrial experts or other similar roles.


The roles are voluntary and require a minimum commitment of attending one meeting every two months for two years.
