On the day when QR code check-in has been brought back in for many venues, the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (LSLHD) has reported 18 new cases from Kiama LGA in the 24 hours to 8pm last night (26 Dec). Of these, 17 were from the 2533 postcode and 1 from 2544.
While still a low figure, this is double the 9 recorded on Boxing Day, and reinforces the need for mask wearing and social distancing during this busy period.
The ISLHD reminds residents to be extra vigilant when leaving their home, to monitor for symptoms and get tested if they feel unwell. 13 patients are in hospital in the District as a result of COVID-19, although some may no longer be positive.
From today to 27 January, QR check-ins will be required at high-risk venues including hospitals, aged and disability care facilities, gyms, places of worship, funerals or memorial services, personal services (e.g. hairdressers and beauty salons), all hospitality settings (including pubs, cafes, resturants, small bars, registered clubs and nightclubs), retail premises and for indoor music festivals with more than 1,000 people.
People who have been to a venue around the same time as a person with COVID-19 will receive a COVID-19 case alert from Service NSW. The alert provides general health advice to monitor for symptoms and get tested if symptoms appear. Update your Service NSW app for the latest features, including improvements to COVID-19 case alert system.
