The Kiama LGA has a strong history of supporting the Australian Red Cross, which is currently seeking for donations for its QLD and NSW Flood Appeals.
The funds raised for the Red Cross’ appeal will help them provide vital humanitarian support to flood affected communities by deploying specialist emergency volunteers, providing important psychological first aid and support at evacuation centres, and helping affected residents get in touch with their loved ones.
Locally, the Red Cross Jamberoo Branch will be outside Jamberoo IGA on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 March, 8am-12pm, collecting funds for the flood appeal. There will also be donation boxes at Elders Real Estate, Jamberoo Butchers and Jamberoo Newsagency. They are asking for cash donations only at this point.
The Red Cross Kiama Branch is also holding a BBQ at Albion Park Bunnings this Sunday 6 March, with all proceeds going to the flood appeal.
Australia Post and Coles are also accepting donations for the Red Cross Floods Appeal. Donations can be made at participating Post Offices and any Coles supermarket and Coles Express store across Australia.
Coles has pledged to match customer donations made up to Tuesday 15 March dollar for dollar, up to $1 million.
The Salvation Army have also launched its 2022 Flood Appeal and are aiming to raise $10 million to directly support the estimated 18,000 homes expected to be impacted during these floods. $1 million has already been released from its Red Shield Appeal funds in support of communities along the East Coast.
Donations to the Red Cross QLD and NSW Floods Appeal can be made at participating Post Offices, online at https://www.redcross.org.au/ or by calling 1800-RED-CROSS (733 276) from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
To donate to The Salvation Army’s Flood Appeal, please visit https://www.salvationarmy.org.au/ or you can round up your purchase at any Woolworths checkout in NSW and QLD from tomorrow or donate at any register throughout the country.
