Early impact of the big wet

The Kiama Bends is now closed in both directions, following a landslide on the northbound side at Mt Pleasant around 9.30am.

Originally, traffic southbound was unaffected, and one northbound lane was opened but this changed a couple of hours later. An anecdotal report on facebook said they were told it was going to take 3-4 hours to reopen.

Police say there are no reports of injuries, but diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

With the full impact of the South Coast Low yet to hit, flooding is already being experienced in low lying areas.

Unsurprisingly, Swamp Road is closed, but traffic is still getting through on Jamberoo Road.

Please heed Police warnings to stay away from flooded areas.
